Backstory (early life):

Zoe was raised in Nice France, her father, Jacob, was enrolled in the military and while stationed in Nice for 2 years he met her mother, Annette, who at the time was a waitress at a local cafe. The couple fell in love over the two years Mr.Barnes was stationed in France and they continued a long distance relationship when her father was sent back to the U.S. After concluding his service in the military he fled back to France to be with Annette.  2 years into their marriage the couple conceived their first daughter named Zoe after her paternal grandmother. For the first 10 years of her life Zoe lived in Nice but eventually the small family decided to move to the U.S so that Zoe could meet the rest of her family (Both Zoe's maternal grandparents had passed away due to natural causes before she was born, and her mother had been an only child). At first Zoe was very against moving to the states, although she was fluent in English she had no desire to move away from her school or friends or the life she was comfortable with. But after some time and some acclimation to the culture shock she eventually settled into suburban life in northern Oregon.

Backstory (early adult life/late teen)

Zoe had a fairly normal home life, both her parents were kind and loving and she maintains a good relationship with both of them. When she turned 18 Zoe moved from her parents home in Beaverton to live with her Grandmother in Portland so that she Could attend Portland University and continue to pursue a career in creative writing.

Zoe and her grandmother are very close, granny is a soft spoken hippie and adores her only grand-daughter. When Zoe was in her freshman year of college she came out to her grandmother. She had been far too scared to tell her parents. Although Jacob is a kind man and cares deeply for his family his morals are a little more old fashioned (like his own fathers) and she had been so afraid of rejection she'd kept her inclinations a secret when living with her parents. Granny of course did not care if Zoe were gay, she only cared about Zoe's happiness. Granny however did agree to keep it a secret until Zoe became comfortable enough in her own sexuality to come out to her parents. Which she did shortly after her 21st birthday, when she brought home her first serious girlfriend. Her mother, although apprehensive at first, came to openly accept her daughters sexuality and has even joined her for a Pride event. Her father however, is still warming up to the idea that he will never had a son in law. Fortunately her fathers love does outweigh his traditional values, he does not outright reject his daughter or her queer lifestyle, but chooses to ignore it in favor of maintaining a relationship with Zoe. 

Current life:

Currently Zoe still lives in Portland in a small loft, only a short drive away from her grandmothers home. She has finished school with a B.A and writes short stories for an online news sight. She hopes to eventually make her main income off of writing and selling her own series of novels, but so far no publishing company has contracted any of her work. When she isnt at home glued to her computer, writing about whatever fluff pop piece she has been assigned she can usually be found volunteering at the local library or wrapped up in a comfortable blanket and a good book. 




Personality: 

Zoe is very confident in herself and her own abilities, this often comes off as 'cocky' which to be fair is not to far from the truth. When Zoe is angry she tends to switch back to french since she knows she has a bit of a wicked tongue and doesn't want to risk getting in trouble. Although she is a bit of a narcissist Zoe does deeply care about those close to her and displays this affection openly. Due to her insomnia often stealing most of her nights sleep Zoe is a total ass in the mornings and shouldn't be talked to until she has had her morning tea, which she will only drink hot and smothered in honey.
